From a description of the study you want to run, ask a short round of scoping questions, survey how related studies designed their experiments, then produce a structured design report (goal · framework · participants · measures · constraints · the rationale and source behind every design choice) plus a protocol flow diagram, an expected-results chart, a power curve, and a summary of the reference studies' designs.
