How long should it take?
At Basic effort: a literature turn 3–6 minutes, a design turn 3–5, data analysis 3–6, statistics 1–3, a figure under a minute, writing 2–4, a review 2–5, /study 10–15. Deep roughly doubles these; Lite is under a minute for most. Video analysis depends on the length of the recording.
The progress card shows the current step. As long as the step keeps changing, the turn is working.
It looks stuck
- The survey is waiting. If the card shows questions and the composer placeholder says to answer them, the turn hasn't started — answer or press Skip the rest.
- A step has been running for many minutes (a long search or a heavy computation): wait for the step's own timeout, which stops the step and lets the turn continue with what it has.
- Nothing changes for 10+ minutes and no step is shown: press Stop, then send the request again. Partial artifacts from the first attempt stay in the session.
"Resumed the interrupted turn from its last checkpoint"
Turns are checkpointed on the server. If the connection dropped or the server restarted, reopening the chat resumes the turn from its last checkpoint and shows this banner. The artifacts it produced before the interruption are kept.
Variants of the banner and what to do:

"Stopped here — the credit budget was reached"
The turn hit your remaining credits or today's cap. Upgrade, wait for the daily refill, or continue with a cheaper setting (Lite effort, a non-premium model). See Plans & credits.
Prevent it
- Keep one task per turn; chain turns instead of asking for a review, an analysis and a figure in one message.
- For big datasets, upload once and reference the file with
@rather than re-uploading. - Use
/compactin long sessions so the context stays small.
