Linear

Sign in with Linear to let the agent read and search your issues, projects and documents, and create or update issues and comments — with per-tool permissions you control.

Connect

Open Customize → Connectors and turn on Linear. Linear's own authorization page asks for read and write access to your workspace; approve and you land back in Neutropic with your Linear account shown. Neutropic talks to Linear's official MCP server; there is nothing to register on Linear's side. Tokens are stored encrypted on the server and Disconnect deletes them (you can also revoke Neutropic under Linear → Settings → Security & access).

If your workspace has Third-party application approvals turned on, an admin has to approve Neutropic the first time someone connects.

Permissions, tool by tool

Every tool starts as Ask each time. Linear's server offers about 70 tools, so the agent sees the 16 it needs for research work by default; turn on Expose all Standard tools on the connector page to show the rest (milestones, cycles, status updates, templates, attachments). Tools that delete, retire labels, share issues, or handle code review (diffs), releases, notifications or Linear agent skills are blocked by default and hidden until you allow them.

Tool names are discovered when you connect; if Linear adds tools they appear in the list as Ask each time.

Use it in a chat

  • "Which Linear issues were created recently?" → list_issues.
  • "Create a Linear issue in the Lab team for the EEG preprocessing bug, with the summary from this analysis" → save_issue with the findings in the description.
  • "Mark LAB-42 as done and add a comment linking the report" → save_issue (with the issue id) + save_comment.
