Desktop app issues

The app won't start, the helper is missing, local files aren't found, or media analysis isn't available.

The app won't open

  • macOS: if Gatekeeper blocks it, right-click the app and choose Open once. Make sure you're on a supported macOS version.
  • Windows: run the installer as the same user who will use the app; antivirus quarantine sometimes removes the helper — restore it and add an exception.

"Helper not running"

The helper is the local process that reads files and runs code. Quit and relaunch the app; if the message persists, reinstall. On Apple silicon and Intel Macs the correct helper is chosen automatically.

The agent can't find my local file

  • The file must be inside a folder allowed under Customize → Storage → Local folders.
  • Refer to it by its exact file name; if several files share a name, include the folder.
  • Network drives and cloud-synced placeholders (files not downloaded locally) can't be read — download them first.

Audio/video analysis isn't available

Install the media pack from Customize → Storage. It is a separate download because it is large.

Sign-in doesn't return to the app

See Sign-in problems → Desktop app.

Free space on this computer

Customize → Storage shows artifacts made on this computer and code-execution working copies, each with Clear. Clearing working copies doesn't affect your original files.
